For my cold wash, then 60 wash regime, it worked out as 14p a load (I plugged the machine into an energy meter so I would get accurate figures)... and I'm on a higher fixed rate electricity tariff. So 1p per nappy for me. For those that wash at 40 or below, it will obviously be substantially lower than that, though some machines are of course more energy efficient than others, so it will vary,


Oh it was a 60 degree high spin wash on a not very economical machine ( C grade) ;) I certainly think it is better to overestimate cost and people be pleasantly surprised than underestimate and them grumble it costs too much!
I think my machine works out around the 15p a load mark too.

Isn't the £3000 figure the cost of using disposables from birth up to potty training not just for one year?

I think £3000 is a bit high but when I used sposies on my daughter she used nappies until she was 3.5 and then pull ups until 4, pull ups are not cheap.
