I do the same as Louise now that their poo is more solid. I've only once put an unrinsed nappy in the machine by accident, and it was gross - I ended up with the solid bits of undigested food sticking to everything. :puke:

I use cloth liners, and if it's quite solid I can sometimes just get away with giving the liner a good flick down the toilet. :D

i have the same problem, as DD has just started on solids. when i can remember, i do flush the poo from the fleece liner but more often than not, i forget and put the pooey nappies in the machine (nursery sends pooey nappies home and OH puts them in the nappy bucket rather than sorting through them and flushing the poo away...). when this happens, i can see solid bits of poo stuck in the machine and then have to fish them out - gross! i hope it's not caused damage to the machine...
