Every time I line dry my bamboo or hemp inserts they come out so hard that they crunch as you bend them! They look really uncomfortable to put in a nappy so I always end up blasting them in a tumble dryer for 10 minutes. Is there another way round this? I don't want to damage the inserts by using the tumble dryer (even though I put it on low) and also it seems like a big waste of energy to use the tumble dryer for 4-5 inserts.

Any solutions?

I used to wring them out (as if they were wet and I was wringing out the water) - it sort of "breaks" the stiffness and makes them softer. I always had a MF insert on top so didn't worry about it too much

I step on them or tug at them a bit which seems to soften them

I always put mine in the washingm machine on a dry spin along with some tumble dryer balls!

beat them! I hit them against the kitchen work top a few times, that softens them up. On a low heat they'll be fine in the tumble drier.

I squish and bash them around a bit before popping them in the nappies. We live in a v hard water area and it seems to help a but but I dint tend to worry too much as once she wees they're soft and they're not directly against her skin anyway....

Hi Yeah I was told that if you scrunch them up in your hands for a minute or so that softens them - and it really does! So I don't bother tumble drying mine anymore - saves electricity
