There's been alot of talk on my new birth board along similar lines of how much work it is and how much they smell - so I replied accordingly

Well done Steph! I've found so many people, say "urgh, I'd never use cloth!" but then maybe come back to me a few days/weeks later saying "tell me about your nappies". Not that they all convert but I think it's a bit like the mooncup thing. Initially they think it sounds horrid and eventually realise that it could be great. We just need to spread the word further!

I normally just reply to comments with at least I am not throwing disps into landfill, as even if they moan about the washing, quote that report about environmental stuff etc etc there is no response to the amount of waste the disposables produce.

I have a washing machine full of poo at the moment. Gotta love breastfed baby's nappies.

One particular SIL gets on my goat with her ignorance of cloth nappies as she read it in a baby mag when she was pg that there is very little difference in their environmental impact, and she threw that at me every time she saw Evies nappies. Ive started throwing back (in a light hearted manner, of course ) that if she is happy to be boiling her little boys testicles in paper and plastic nappies just because she is too lazy to do an extra wash every few days then that is up to her, we are very happy with our nice, soft and cosy nappies thank you very much. I also quip back that her little boys sh*t will still be sitting in a landfill site in 500 years time, and I did ask her once if she had done her own research into cloth v disposables or had she just taken at face value an article written in a magazine that gets a lot of income from disposable nappies, and an article that was written on the basis of a report that was funded by P&G?

Its worked as I was in her company all day Saturday and she didnt mention it once (which is a first )

Oh the amount of grief i get for switching to cloth is unreal!!!! Luckily most of my friends round here use cloth too, not the pretty pocket type that im slowly getting addicted too!

Did you know it is actually ILLEGAL to send human excraments to a landfill? how many 'sposie users do you know that actually emty the poo out of a pampers like your supposed to?

Well the sposies you to have a bit of information on the packet telling people to empty it in the toilet. This information was then removed from the packets, so I can fully understand that sposie users haven't been told they what they are meant to do. In saying that I don't suspect many sposie users would empty a nappy even if they knew.

I wonder why it was removed??? I always emptied solid 'nugget' poo's in the loo but i must admit i just put the others in the nappy sack in the bin!!
I can't believe the difference in our black bin since changing to cloth, its half empty now! God only knows how full it would have been with two in pampers!

Saying that im usin pampers for the 1st day or two till the black poo goes i think as i dont reckon it will come out of a nice fluffy white nappy!
