Right, talk to me about newborn nappies

With dd, we didn't start using cloth until she was around 5 weeks old, and we just bought the "birth to potty" little lambs at the time. It wasn't until she was closer to around 6 months or so that I discovered cnt through Jennie (@docmaggoo) and went on to try other nappies.

So, I know it's still really early, but I want to start my research now so I've plenty of time to work out what I want to do and how to do it. I love aio type nappies, but did find in the early days that two part (like the little lambs) coped much better with bf poo etc in terms of containment. I would also LOVE to try wool.

Fire away ladies, but please be gentle! I've got a really bad case of baby brain atm.... :loopy: :giggle:

We didn't start last time until 4 or 5 weeks old.So far my newborn stash consists of nature babies loveables, diddy diapers, bimbles, xs sandies, a few nb swaddlebees fitteds,xs oww, a newborn hollow oak and some xs dunk n fluffs. Smalls I have are mainly little lambs but a few others too.

I loved my xs oww and diddy diapers best. I've got some diddy diapers in classifieds at the moment.

I LOVED my teenyfits when Oliver was tiny. they are AIO, but have a pocket so you can take out the horrid mf insert that it comes with and I used to put a folded LL bamboo booster in it which was much more absorbant than the mf insert, and a hell of a lot trimmer. They lasted ages and as he was a skinny minnie they still fit at 6m old :giggle:

we used Bumgenius AIO's, xs and small from the day DD was born. never had a problem with containment and DD was prone to BF poop explosions. they didn't have teenyfits then but think i will try them if i have another baby as we like the easyfits on DD.

We used mostly diddy diapers with size 0 tots wraps, then moved to size 1 bamboozles with small ME rikki wraps. I had a couple of xs OWW and nb swaddlebees but they didnt fit long and tbh I preferred the diddies.

Do a search for newborn nappies, there are several discussion threads already so you'll get loads of info from them. I don't do pockets on tiny babies (not reliable enough at all for us), well I did have a few small Wee Notions for cuteness but they got worn once or twice each so wouldn't bother again. In the very early days/weeks my favourite nappies were XS OWWs and NB Hollow Oaks. Everything else was far too big. Once Mia was over 8lb then I started using her NB Pianissimos, XS Dunk N Fluffs and NB Holdens Landings. No idea about wraps as we don't use them either, Mia has been in wool 99% of the time from birth, but would probably have had XS Motherease and some pretty Wee Notions ones. I didn't have any non WAHM nappies in Mia's stash but if I did have they would have been bimbles, bambeasies and diddy diapers.

As you already have a good stash to build on. I would maybe get just a few small
nappies and xs wraps for the very teeny stage. But really wait until bub arrives and you see what size/shape they are and what suits you then.
It would be awful to get a full newborn stash that doesn't work.
The little lamb size 1's are good solid working nappies. And can always be used with a nippa if you need a smaller fit.

For aio's teenyfits & bg xs were good and containment reliable. I agree that forget the mf insert in the teenyfits and use a LL booster inside: you'll get plenty of wear out of those until the rest of your stash fits!
Wraps: me rikki wraps xs are good too.
