I need some recommendations of nice but inexpensive breast pads, I have some avent reusables and they're ok, but I leak through them occasionally and also they're not the softest, so I'd like something a bit nicer, but can afford anything really expensive.

What do you recommend?

Alternatively, what fabrics would I need to make my own and where's the best place to get those fabrics?

Little lambs are basic bamboo ones and on special offer atm i think that would be cheaper than buying fabric TBH. I made some which are BV which i dyed, bamboo fleecec then fleece easy to make too but i used overlocker x

I made my own and they're my favourite over any that I've bought. They're minky insides, with one layer of bamboo fleece in the middle for absorbancy, then just plain cream fleece for the backing. They're soft and squishy and fab! I can't remember where I bought the minky or the bamboo fleece (online somewhere hopefully someone else can help) but the plain poly fleece was from a conventional fabric shop. I'm lucky enough to have an overlocker but I understand that a zig zag stitch works just as well. Hand blanket stitch might work well too.

Hi, I've only ever used Little Lambs but I love them, even though I don't leak anymore (DD is one!) I wear them all the time anyway, just coz they're soft!

I started with Avent disposables and you get through SO MANY and they were so rough compared to my LL's!

I like the home-makers! I have a sewing machine but don't know how to use it! If you're a bit crafty I'd give that a go!

If you leak a lot (I leaked HEAPS in the beginning) I'd recommend getting some breast SHELLS (not shields), they are half-spheres that keep air around your nipple, they need to be held in place by a bra. You can use the milk they collect only while feeding.

I used them in the car particularly, so that there was zero rubbing on your nipple as your boobs bounce around. Yes, I was cracked & bleeding/sore until I got professional BF help. I also tipped the collected milk into DD on the motorway (against recommendation), it seemed a loooong way between services for her!

Good luck! :bf:
