@clothmama.
I'm not entirely sure.
Is it more fibre to spin with?
Looks a bit like silk fibre to me???

I have no idea - don't think it is silk though as I can see the curls of wool on some bits!

I just wanted to update a bit on my journey! I am a fully paid up fledged member of the Berry Spinners and Weavers Guild which meets weekly. I don't make every week due to work but go when I can. I'm so excited as tomorrow we are learning how to dye with food dye and jelly crystals :yahoo: :yahoo: I start night shift tomorrow so works perfectly so I can go in the morning!

I'll grab some more pics soon to update with the other couple of skeins I've done! I haven't done a lot just because I have had so much on I dont' seem to get time to do much at all!

I took all my wool in to the group and they went through it for me. Some ended up in the bin (raw very old fleece) and some I've been warned is pretty rough but great to practice on and I can probably make a rug or something :giggle:

I found out what this is @docmaggoo , it is a silk worm cocoon thing!! I will leave it to try to spin until I'm a bit better! I'm still quite chunky with my spinning (although I dont' like using very thin wool so this is good for me :giggle: ) and it probably deserves to be spun very finely!

This was done with a dropper, the one the lady did was with heaps of colours and ended up almost a spotted effect, I put more on and it then kind of all blended nearly together. i actually didn't expect it to be this vibrant! This was done just using food dye and a microwave :shock: too easy and I'm pleased with first result!

Image
Then I used jelly crystals (but added extra food dye as I was worried it wouldn't work strong enough), the purple one is a mohair (we think) that came from the stuff that came with my wheel and we wern't sure how it would take.
Image
It turned out pretty pale (the liquid was a deep plum) and kind of just a greyish colour, it is OK but not wow!
Image
The blue (that I'd actually wanted to be purple but didn't do what it was supposed to :giggle: ) turned out fab, the tops of merino must have different fleece in it so it ended up with some really pronounced tones - it is very cool and everyone kept asking me I did it :hohoho:
Image
The drip food dye one came out pretty cool, a bit like the sea!

I had a great day and can't wait to eventually have the time and skill to plan and make a project right from the start! :spinning: :bath: :crochet:
