No wet nappies for over 6 hours!

Postby Kim » Sun Aug 17, 2014 9:46 am

Hi all
Willow is now two weeks old and breastfed. Yesterday we had hardly any wet nappies and then she went at least 6 hours without a wee. She has had a wet nappy this morning but 6 hours seems a very long time especially as she seemed to be feeding all day.

Should I be worried?

If she seems otherwise fine I'd keep an eye on her output for a day or two but call your HV / GP if you are worried.

Hi

She has had plenty of wet nappies since but her poo turned green which according to my sister is a lack of hind milk. (She is a breast feeding support worker-unfortunately we don't live in the same county)

I have been to the health visitor today and Willow has gained 60g since Friday and she is back to her birth weight. She didn't seem concerned in any way. I am trying to increase the milk supply on my left side as I have never felt full on that side and she never goes as long after feeding on the left.

I am feeling a lot better about things now but the trouble is I am a natural worrier.

And way to go with the weight gain

Block feeding can help with this - baby gets more fat rich milk than if you feed in a different side each time.

And I never got engorged or felt full with either of my boys until they dropped night time feeds, not everyone does.

I agree with Sim @Kim , you need to make sure she is getting a good feed off one side before changing. How is she going now?

She is doing ok, wet nappies keep on coming and her poop is yellow again, so hoping everything has sorted itself out now.
