Hayfever :(

Postby LynniferT » Wed Jun 17, 2015 8:38 am

Can you take antihistamines when breastfeeding? I am suffering with itchy eyes and sneezing (sitting typing this :bf: with tissues up my nose :giggle: ) and its driving me loopy.

Help!

I'm not sure that you can, but I have heard that if you regularly take honey that is produced by bees local to you, it can help with the symptoms.

I'll try to find a link about that.

Actually, scrap that idea, the evidence is anecdotal and a 2002 study from the University of Connecticut found no evidence of honey's effectiveness in reducing hayfever symptoms.

So, sorry, back to my original 'no idea' response which is of no use to you

The non drowsy versions are generally considered safe. We use these fact sheets

http://breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/wp-c ... s-sept.pdf

I have to take them due to having allergic reactions so I did a lot of reading up on it xx
