Washing powder vs washing liquid

Since last year I always use washing liquid for our clothes, bedding, etc. Machine does a tube clean program and I use that once a month like recommended. Never any problems like dirt etc in the machine.
Since last week i'm washing with powder and that leaves so much dirt in the machine, like around the rubber etc.
Now I'm wondering what's better as I always thought powder should be better for the machine?
What are your opinions??

Liquid is supposed to be worse for your machine as it causes gunge build up inside. I haven't noticed powder build up around my machine though

@Shaunie that's the strange part as my liquid never gives any grease build up....

Unless it depends on which detergent you use? I haven't actually seen the articles that contain evidence, only heard about them.

Personally I think as long as you do regular maintenence washes then your machine should be fine anyway @MissFrodo

I prefer liquid to powder. I found sometimes the powder left a residue. I suppose it would probably depend on brands.

Glad to see I'm not the only one

Honestly I think it's personal preference, as long as you run a hot wash frequently then either shouldn't cause any problems.
