Some nights, Sweetie gets her nappy completely sodden – so much so that I sometimes have to come and change it in the middle of the night because it's falling off her. Other nights, she hardly produces anything and her nappy is almost dry in the morning.
The nappies I put on her at night are… well, let me explain. There was a nappy laundry company called Pure Nappies which went bust last year, and we got to keep the nappies we had at the time (which was far more than we should have had because she was then with a childminder who sneakily put her in disposables and thought that somehow we wouldn't notice, so we were sending back fewer dirty ones but still getting the same number of cleans – I was about to phone them about it when we got the letter saying they'd gone bust). They had got Tots Bots to make some nappies for them, which are rather like the Fluffles but more crudely shaped and with no elastic. They are thick microfibre with a sewn-in bamboo terry booster. We have the Size 3s, and that's what she wears at night. After quite a lot of leakage with plastic wraps, she's now in wool shorties which have performed excellently.
I add an extra booster on the nights when I think she's likely to pee more (drank a lot of water at dinner, or didn't manage to pee at bedtime) but I don't think it fits terribly well on her with the extra material. I don't really want to be changing her nappy at 3am if I can avoid it. At the same time I'd like her to be in something comfortable, bearing in mind I can't entirely predict which nights are going to be particularly wet.
Does anyone have any suggestions, bearing in mind that (a) I would rather not spend money if I can help it (but will if I can be convinced it would help), and (b) I have little talent at sewing, less time, and no machine?
