Need help converting at night.

I am now brave enough to give cloth a go at night, so I have been trying it last few nights. 1st night I put him in baby beehinds with both its boosters and a peachy cheeks bamboo booster under wee notions pul wrap. When he woke, 3hrs later for feed, it was still dry on outer layers. After 6hrs, it was very wet in his wet zone, so change to disposable as didn't want to risk wet bed as I know bamboo not up to full absorbancy yet. Last night he had on minki huggle bamboo booster wraped in MF cloth, another bamboo booster, between nappy and pul wrap. To be honest I hated putting in that as it look so bulky and uncomfy, but as he didn't seem to be bothered I went with it. After 3hrs it was soaking in the wetzone so changed it. Tonight I am trying little lambs bamboo (as really like the fit on him and it has lasted 5hrs unboosted) with both baby beehinds boosters and another bamboo booster with pul wrap.

Getting to the point with the above in mind I am looking to buy a good slim(well slim as I can get) night nappy. I am looking at wee notions but unsure which combo to go for and weather to go for front or side fitting only tried lovebums side before and not that keen on the fit but don't know if wee notions would droop at front also.

Lastly I have a couple of woollywraps, that I bought new on ebay what do I need to do first before using and will I be able to use them with a wetter as above?

Any Help grately recieved as had enough of using disposable at night, which leak anyway.

The problem is that it is very difficult to find a night nappy that can last the night and still be slim - most night nappies are quite bulky. I think you just need to go for it and see how you both get on. From what you have said, it sounds like you'll be fine. And babies don't seem to mind the bulk - honestly.

Night Notions are meant to be very good - I have ordered one but haven't got it yet so can't say but don't think anyone has had any bad comments about the fit. I would always say to get some hemp for a night nappy as it is the slimmest for it's absorbency, I reckon, so a hemp booster in the night notion would be good.

Wool will help at night - it allows some air to circulate so can actually help to evaporate some of the moisture and also they don't get as sweaty as they would in pul wraps. You will need to lanolise the wool if they haven't already been done. Have you got some lanolin? You just need to soak them (I leave them overnight, although I think a few hours is enough) and let them dry, without rinsing.

You just need to have some courage and see how long they will last.

Thank you for the reply. Its reasurring to hear they don't mind the bulk, though don't think I will try the huggles again as it was just massive and didn't last as long as the bamboo combo which was slimmer.

Thanks for the tip with hemp I didn't know whether just all bamboo or a mix was better so will def order a mix.

I haven't got any Lanolin yet going to order it. Once I know their is a nappy that works and that I can get on with wool going to get a pair of longies as they sound great will then have confusion of which ones to go for. whilst trying not to get addicted to yet another nappy thing.

Will be brave tonight and leave it on rather than worrying about the leaks as have that most nights anyway so don't really know why I am panicking about him being wet.

Are you putting a fleece liner in the nappies like BB that arn't already fleece lined? Once the bamboo has been washed enough they are pretty good overnight with a hemp booster as you say. Also wool will really help as some of the wee evaporates overnight.

How did you go?

It went not too bad. It lasted 9hrs before it leaked it appeared to have leaked out of the legs possiably because I had to put the wrap on last hole as too tight other wise but it was a bit loose. The booster in between the nappy and wrap was bone dry and nappy wasn't overly wet so thinking it went straight out the wrap before bamboo booster had a chance to absorb.

I have been putting a fleece topped bamboo next to his skin as don't like the poppers on BB being right next to his skin think it would be uncomfy, does fleece on top of fleece cause problems then?

I will prep the wool soakers tonight for tomorrow but think I will try the tots bots rainbow fleece tonight, forgot I had it, to see if that helps.

Overall it has not been as bad as I thought it would be as expected the nappies to stink the room out as heard they can be smelly and didn't think they would keep him dry.

Thanks for your help apprecaited.

I think Tory was going to say that using a fleece liner will help to keep their bum dry even when the nappy is wet through. So it is good you are using them. You wouldn't need a liner in the nappies that are already fleece lined, like the Huggle.

Glad it went well - does sound like you might need bigger wraps though - or a nice pair of longies

Hi

My Night Notions have been really great under wool - and really slim for a night nappy. (and quick to dry as it all comes apart)I dont use anything more then the included booster but DD is only a medium wetter. I went for front snapping as I thought more secure and more importantly more material to absorb!

Sounds like you are doing really well. I just wanted to second what other people said about bulk, I wouldn't worry too much as it looks like they have a massive bum but Zach has never really been bothered by it.

I would recommend the wool or even fleece (which I currently use) as they both air to circulate and this definately helps with evaporation. Just make sure the PJs have good room in them as the pressure can cause wicking.

Smell wise, its generally build up that causes this although Zach is doing awful ammonia wees at the moment and the nappy bucket is awful, strangely though the nappy is fine when first taken off.
