We swear by metanium when its needed. We use fleece liners when we need to use cream - to protect the nappy. If the liners gets too clogged - then its easier to just bin the liner rather than ruin a complete nappy.
What are you cleaning LO's bottom with?
Only ask coz we had a really sore bottom with DS until we made the switch to washable wipes when her was a few months old - and used a camomile tea solution - then had no problems with his bottom (other than the soreness you get around teething which I found was unavoidable)

If you can - loads of nappy free time is the best solution, works better than any cream!
hope that helps - im sure others will be along with their solutions too - we all have tackled sore bottoms in slightly different ways.

We use Lansinoh. Usually clears Ed's bottom up in a couple of hours. Fab stuff. I don't have any flushable liners so I just make sure that my fleece liners are washed really well.
