What type of wool?

Postby InkMinx » Wed Jan 08, 2014 9:19 am

So I found out at the scan yesterday that Im having a boy (boy number 3!)
So Im ready to go crazy crocheting baby boy stuff.
I want to make some longies and wraps but Im used to using acrylic blend wools for durability. I know I need to use 100% wool for these, but the last couple of jumpers I made for my boys with real wool both seemed a little on the itchy side. I plan on buying some plain undyed wool and getting creative with some kool aid. I have found some 100% bluefaced Leicester at a good price. But would really like your recommendations on what wool types that you find to be soft but durable.

I've found bFL tobbe the best for durability. Merino is so so soft but I always end up felting it :sigh:
I have some wooly boy bits for sale if you're interested. Pm me if you want more info.

Lovely, I shall get the wool I found ordered now. And some kool aid. I found this site really useful as it also has different combinations shown on it for mixing sachets for more colour variations, and also interesting that I can add other food colours in the mix and the kool aid will still set it.

Please do message me with any other bits you have available.
