too bad I abhor knitting in the round!!! I'd rather sew seams, at least I can do that

Well I managed to sort the legs out, but I don't think they are going to be usable, I have big holes where I made stitches for the gusset inccreases :-(

You can.turn.them.inside.out and sort of darn the hole together, they'd be useable then :)

Thanks for that, I'll have a look at darning once I've finished the legs :knit:

If I have 10sts per 2" gauge and need a 20" hip circ, should I cast on 88 or 100sts? Pleasae tell me it's 100 because that's what I've done!

You're ok, 20 (inch) divided by 2 (inch)=10
10 stitches * 10 = 100

Hooray! Just finished using this for the first time (thanks Joeli!)... And I have a wearable pair of shorties for DS...except the rise is about 2 inches too high when following the pattern (wanted 19 inch rise, but knitting to 9 inches before doing gusset increases as the pattern stated gave me an end result of 21 inch rise). Still very happy as it's my first ever knitting that's not a plain square. And hey, DS can grow into them :)
