Bread maker

Postby girlinleeds » Thu Aug 20, 2015 5:37 pm

Does anyone have one, are they any good. I really want one but Dh says it's another gadget I won't use. I love fresh bread but don't have the time to make it so thought this might be the solution

We have one, I use it probably once a month but we haven't mastered the recipe yet so that's a lot to do with it.

My bro has one and uses it all the time, he makes pizza bases etc... Rolls etc... x

I got one last September and I haven't bought shop bread since, I make at least a loaf every other day at the weekend we make brioche or panatone, I make pizza dough probably once a week and in the summer when it's to hot to put the oven on I make cakes in it! I love it, in our house it's definitely not a gadget!

@clothsister
My favourite at the moment is

Honey sunflower loaf

1tsp yeast
Strong wholemeal 250
Strong white 250
Honey 2 tbsp
Butter 25g (sometimes I just stick in 2 tbsp sunflower oil instead)
1 1/4 tsp salt
Water 340 ml
Sunflower seeds 4 tbsp sunflower seeds

Put everything in the machine in the order it's written
My machine is a Panasonic and I use program 6 which takes 5 hours

@Miss Frodo I had in mind that you made your own bread in a machine, but I might be wrong.

I had one years ago in France but didn't get on with it, didn't love the bread and it became a big space taker upper in my cupboard! I'm a bit more into home made produce now so I do wonder if I'd be better at finding recipes that work etc. I think a big part of it is finding the right machine, I remember from some discussions on here some are better than others! Panasonics seemed to get good praise I seem to remeember.

Joël was making fresh bread by hand for us just before we left Oz and it was fab and pretty easy too!
