Crunchy nappies

Postby Laura3291 » Thu Apr 26, 2012 5:36 am

I bought some preloved motherease nappies and they've turned up all hard and crunchy. Is there anything I can do to save them? I washed them with bold 2in1 & they still came out hard mine are never hard and stiff like them.

I think tumble drying can help. We don't have a dryer so I haven't tried but I have heard other ladies say that it helps.

You can tumble them on cool for a short while, bash them against a wall or stomp on them for a bit.

I second tumbling, we have hard water here and mine get like that too. Solved by a trip to the laundrette :)

Like Kate said, bash them against the wall & rub them together for a bit & then put them in the dryer on low for a bit. I'd do it everytime you wash them. You might never get them soft soft but they will definitely improve.

I have some pre-loved motherease and they were also quite 'crunchy' when I received them. A tumble dry sorted them out no probs, hopefully you will find that it brings yours back to life too!

We don't have a tumble drier, but apparently hanging them out in the rain softens them up (rain water is very soft).

just out of interest would bicarb work in the rinse cycle? just thought that softens water. I may try it.
