Struggling to contain leaks :(

Postby Skyy82 » Mon Feb 11, 2013 4:08 pm

Hello, i'm a newbie to cloth nappies and I'm struggling to contain leaks after 2 hours of being on. We tried Bumgenius, itti bitti tutto and charlie bananas before we settled on cb's. We started out fine, however they are leaking after 2 hours with a bamboo insert and the large cb insert. The legs are fitted correctly and the waist is a good fit, so I'm guessing he's a big wetter. Can anyone suggest any others that we can try of any variety fitted, two part etc as i'm beginning to lose faith and I really want to get reusable s to work for my wee man :(

How old is he? are the nappies new to you? or are they old and may need stripping?

Where are they leaking? they might be wicking through a onsie if its on too tight.

Prior to DS weaning when he was on milk only, he was a mega wetter and could only last about 2hrs in a fitted bamboo nappy. Now he's older and eating solids too, he's much much better and we get 3hrs at least now so maybe an age thing?

i like totsbots stretch for fitteds that are fairly cheap (preloved) and do a decent job. Also tight jeans/ poppered vests can cause leaks. fleece trousers and dungarees are great at this time of year to help stop wicking, if however the nappies are just soaked through you may be best going with some 2 parters, as shaunie said babies do tend to wet a lot more before they are weaned so keep your pockets as you may well be able to use them again soon. the fitteds can then be used for night nappies with a booster maybe??
