Baby poo turns nappy purple!

Postby crumbymummy » Thu Nov 06, 2008 5:20 pm

It's my first proper post - I lurk here, but I'm so :? by this I thought I'd ask for thoughts!

My five month old poo-ed in her orange tots bots cotton nappy. It's preloved and I don't think we'd used it before. Anyway, I thought it looked slightly odd, but a swipe with cotton wool showed only the usual bright yellow. It was wash time so I put it in with her other nappies on the rinse cycle. I thought I'd look and see if it was clean afterwards - and the dirty part had turned a very fetching shade of lilac  It's still there after a 40 degree wash.

I don't suppose this has happened to anyone else? The day's other dirty nappy is perfectly fine!

I'm slightly freaked out :?

Not happened to us!!

Bit of sunshine should sort it out (even winter sun through a window would do - might take longer but will still work)

Not sure if it is the same type of thing, but DD3 pooed on a lilac tots bamboozle and it now has slightly 'bleached' looking patches where the poo hit! How strange - maybe their dyes aren't steadfast or else our children have mighty powerful poo!

Had she been given any calpol? That can come through to nappies as s purple stain.
