Please convince me re. fitteds

Postby Frances » Thu Nov 13, 2008 7:57 am

I really want to love fitteds as longies and crops are so cute, plus I want some Holden's Landing! Unfortunately I had a bad experience with my original stash (my dislike of Bamboozles is well documented) so I sold them all except my Baby Beehinds and bought pockets instead. I'd like to get back into fitteds but genuinely find that they don't last as long as pockets - Baby Beehinds are the best I've found and they only last 2 hours compared to 3 hours for a pocket. Is this the case for everyone else? And if so, why do you use fitteds instead of pockets? Or should I just accept tht pockets work best for us and leave fitteds well alone? Thanks!

What do you stuff your pockets with during the day?
What wraps were you using with fitteds before - were they leaking for you?

I think what I mean is how do you define 'not lasting as long'?

Did you / do you use fleece liners with your fitted nappies?

Sorry for the 101 questions but helps me to know how to help :D

Hi Steph

I stuff the pockets with microterry, sometimes boosted with hemp or bamboo
I used Tots Bots PUL wraps, and they did sometimes leak, particularly with b/fed poos (although wouldn't be a prob now Jasmine is weaned)
Re.lasting as long I mean before pockets wick, or fitteds get so wet that Jasmine's bum gets wet and clammy, or the wrap leaks
I use fleece liners

Thanks :D

Hmm

I have a few WAHM fitteds that you could borrow to try if you like Frances? I think I have Lovebums, Tiddlybums and some others. It sounds like you might need to boost fitteds more. Harriet is a heavy wetter and I have to boost every nappy :?

Tots wraps don't have a great reputation, they always leaked for me!

If she's only using microterry she can't be that heavier wetter, maybe try a fully fleece lined fitted, how about a new style night notion when they are on sale, but boost with what you would a pocket!

Oh a bumhugger might begood too!

I think you definately might need to try different wraps - I never got on with the tots ones as they always wicked super quick for us...
Have you thought about trying a weenotions wrap? They're excellently reliable!
A fitted that you can stuff/boost is a good plan too... Will post more later when I'm not avoiding work!! :hohoho:

But it's ok for baby's bum to be a bit clammy really :)

Yup I agree but if Jasmine is used to wearing pockets the wetness might bother her!

Just to eco Steph- you can't really go wrong with weenotions or motherease wraps, they are fab! We use fitteds all the time now our stash is made up of mainly swaddlebees ov, WN NL and HL, although i do also use cotton tots bots when i run out of the others. I've also found the kushies fitted nappies are nothing to sneer at (unlike their AIO's) but they do need a thin booster to make them last.

I think you need to get one fitted that you fancy, like a holden landing for ex and experiment with a few wraps.
Personnaly I fond fitted a lot more efficient that pockets. I find a pocket nappy will last 2 hours but a fitted will last about four...and all night as well so that'll be 12 hours.
I used fitted if we're out and about as they 're more reliable imo.
At the moment your lo is still very little but I think that as she grows, she might become a bit more heavy wetter and you might be thankful for fitted then.
The best wraps I've used were weenotions, wacky wraps and motehrease.
