Whats the difference between prefolds and terries?

Postby zippie-purple-monkey » Wed Apr 08, 2009 6:57 pm

I'm trying to buy some squares that I can use on my lo as boosters and will be able to use for my NB with a wrap. I am confused - whats the differenc ebetween a prefold and terries? Perfolds appear to be twice the price.

Thx and sorry for the dumb question, have never used these before!

prefolds would be too bulky for you hun, did you look on little pants at the 40cm terries?

Prefolds are made of several layers of fabric with the centre panel usually thicker than the other two. Terries are a single layer of fabric. If you want to use something as a booster now as well as a nappy later go for bamboo terries. I bought 50cm ones to use on Katie when I was :pregnant: . I still use them to stuff pockets now so have definitely got my money's worth.

Both little pants and boocoo have sold out of the 40cm ones - would 50cm be too big?

Found these http://www.ecoearthnappies.com/showprod ... ct_id=9541 but postage is £9

I suppose I could boost my nighttime huggles with a prefold then? Lo's started to be damp again with just mf and hemp.

I used babeco 50cm terries on Katie from birth so I don't think they'll be too big. to the £9 postage charge though.

mf isn't normally recommended for overnight as it is more like a sponge rather than something very absorbant. IMO terries are better than prefolds! Have you looked at babeco?

ETA: in my experience white / bleached bamboo terries keep there square shape better than the unbleached which became rectangles.
