new to night nappies and wraps - recommendations?

Postby curlywhirly » Thu Aug 05, 2010 3:08 pm

hi ladies,

i have recently bought a holden landings bedbug but haven't used it as i don't know which wraps i should buy??? What do you find works best?

Also, has anyone any recommendations for alternative night nappies? my little girl is 18 weeks old and weighs around 12 1/2 lbs, so she's quite petite. she's also quite a heavy wetter!

thank you,
amy and indigo xxx

Night Nappywise our favourites are Luscious Little Somethings & Puddlekins.
WeeNotions Night Notions are also good but start at a medium so I would imagine would be too big at the minute.

Wraps wise I now only use Thirsties, they are the most reliable we've tried, the double leg gussets are great for newborn poo too!

We don't use wraps here as DS reacts to wearing PUL over night but he's fine during the day so we use fleece or wool soakers instead.

I like little lambs wraps best :) especially for new baby. Everyone swears by motherease but i hated them. I like fleece soakers (either snugglebots or pumpkin pants) and wool (from a lovely woolie WAHM here or your own if you can knit) However wool needs a bit more care to look after it rather than plastic or fleece wraps.

Wool & fleece were a mystery to me too! Basically, wool is breathable so some moisture evaporates and the lanolin (the stuff you soak them in from time to time), is what keeps them water resistant. They can be used several times before needing a wash unlike fleece which needs to be washed after every use. A soaker is like a big pair of pants & shorties are liek big pants with a cuff around the thighs

There's lots more info in the pure wool section :D
