Has anyone read the "Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter" books by Laurel K. Hamilton? There are about 12-14 in the series so far and I've read up till about book 10. I have to say I REALLY enjoyed the earlier books - great characters, good story - but I feel the latter ones have been let with the amount of sex in the book. Don't get me wrong I don't have a problem with sex in a book but when an author, who can write well and not have to rely on sex to sell a book, moves the focus to this rather than developing the story and the characters, its a real shame.

Another supernatural series that I have enjoyed is by Kelley Armstrong: "Bitten" and "Stolen" to name a few. They are mostly centred around werewolves but include all sorts of supernatural beings. They are great fun to read and I wholly recommend them :D

Not read the Twilight books but have watched the films and found them ok. There seems to be a glut of vampire books on the market at the mo and there is a lot of dross in amongst the gems.

 have any of you read Midnight Sun?

I hadn't heard of it until this week, and wondered how I'd missed book 5, so went a-googling and apparently the draught manuscript was leaked by someone and she wasn't very happy about it (understandably), but anyhoo, she now has a link to the draught copy on her own website (if you can't beat them, join them, I suppose), and I started reading it last night. Twilight from Edward's perspective. Wow, I thought the other books were addictive, but being inside his head is great  . Blimey, how sad am I?

I haven't finished the draught yet, it's only part of the book though, as she stopped writing when it was leaked, and doesn't know if she'll ever start again

they are great aren't they :) I am a big fan of the twilight saga... was lucky enough to meet a few of the actors from eclipse recetly at a convention, though Xander didn't seem to enjoy it as much as me ;)

Also totally obsessed, i read them last year between christmas and new years also bought dh an xbox as he was annoying me when i was trying to read! Never liked supernatural type books if i'm honest but the stephanie meyers wrote this book in a way that has a romeo and juliet feeling to it! Starstruck lovers and all that. Brilliant! :) haven't read the true blood stuff yet as feel like it can't be as good as twilight! Love vampire diaries on tele but books go to whole new realms of weird so only read some of them. Might have to give true blood a go if you guys recommend it. :)

I attempted the Twilight book when my niece who NEVER reads read all 3 in a weekend and I just could not get into it, I thought it was really teenage  whereas the Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood books I read in the space of 2 weeks and adored. I hate the show though :giggle: I have to tell everyone where it's wrong and didn't happen like that in the book :soapbox:

My sister is lending me the Twilight dvd's maybe watching them might give me an insight into the whole Twilight world :-?
