Putting fleece liners in pockets

Postby tanya » Sun Mar 09, 2008 11:19 am

Hi,

We mainly use pockets during the day (BG, HH OS & BB) and are currently going through the messy weaning process. This has produced the most disgusting sticky tarry poos ever (very similar to meconium!!).

We've also had to use some metanium recently on her bum as she seems to react quite badly to this new poo.

Add the calpol she has for her teeth sometimes and we've got some fairly stained nappies.

DH suggested putting a fleece liner in all her nappies, not just the unlined ones. Is this gonna cause any problems with extra wetness on her bum?

Also, any ideas how to get the various stains out of her nappies? We live in a flat with no outdoor drying facilities and little natural sunlight whih would be bright enough to bleach the nappies.

Thanks

Tanya

Moved...

I would say don't put fleece liners in fleece lined nappies as you will get leaks... The wee will get trapped between the layers of fleece and pour out of the side :?

She won't get extra wetness on her bum tho' - just wet clothes...

I've not tried using this on nappies but you could probably use a stain remover like vanish or oxyclean and do an extra wash and rinse after...

What washing powder do you use? I've found I get less staining since using Ariel Bio...

You could try using paper liners in fleece lined nappies if you don't have any problems with them - we can't use them but a lot of people have no problems with them...

Hi Steph,

Thanks for moving the post & for the reply.

Think I will get a small box of bio powder and some stain remover to give the stained nappies a blast. Not sure I like the sound of paper liners, Bella's got a sensitive botty and I don't think these would help too much.

Shame about the fleece liners, but I was kinda thinking along the lines of the two fleecey bits repelling water and then it getting stuck somewhere - just couldn't quite get my brain around it, bit sleep fogged today. I'm such a light-weight!!

I know they say that this can happen but it is worth a try, I've done it with no problems, I suppose it depends on what fleece it is etc, you can always try to see if it works!

I've put fleece on fleece before - especially with Williams Meconium poos and havent had a problem. And when Phebies got a sore bum I use fleece on fleece so I can put heaps of cream on her bum, again with no problems.

I have done fleece on fleece before and paper on fleece too without any problems. So I say it is worth a try. If it doesn't work then you haven't lost anything, just try it at home and keep an eye :D

Another vote here for using fleece in fleece lined nappies. Much easier to clean off poo. We also use paper on fleece for nursery.
