Making inserts out of old nappies

Postby clarahippy » Wed Sep 29, 2010 8:03 am

Hi,

I'm new here but quickly developing an addiction to cloth for my 8 week old. I have some cotton little lambs I bought preloved which are pretty much dead now; elastic and velcro are both starting to go plus they are all crunchy and I don't have a tumble to soften them up. So I wanted to turn them into extra inserts for my pocket nappies. The inserts I have at the moment (pocket tots) are soft and squidgy, almost like there is filling inside; should I fill the cotton before sewing them up or not? If I do then what with?

Anyone else do this? Any helpful tips?

Clare

I'm not sure what pocket tots inserts are made from but if they're microfibre then cotton inserts will never be as squishy ;)

They are cotton on the outside, but they squish almost as if there is a filling or extra layers of material inside!
