yeah I was thinking of getting some bamboo squares to boost with, but didn't know whether 40x40 would be enough or if I'd need 50 or even 60!

I've got some new nappies waiting to be washed for him, a huggle, a fluffle, a bumble and a couple of quick flips, would these need boosting, I was thinking just some hemp in them maybe, unfortunately no can do until my nippas arrive, GRRR!

Am also waiting on 3 night notions!

Rae, I didn't realise the easy peasy inserts were 6 layers, I thought they were 3, thats even better, I will order more if I get on well, I've only ordered 10 for time being! I'm kinda using Jak as my guinea pig for the baby really, as I want to be able to deal with her nappies when shes a heavier wetter!

I'm thinking when I get my hemp inserts, once everything is washed, I will try him with 1 MF and 2 hemp, can always swap the MF to bamboo if it doesn't work!

So if anyone has any idea what size bamboo squares to get??

Cheers all your rather helpful, lol!

In my bumbles I use 1 40 x 40cm bamboo terry and I one hemp booster plus the normal terry booster that comes with the bumble and that works fine overnight for us. I expect everyone else has different size preferences though! Maybe get one of each they are really useful for various things anyway.

I was thinking possibly a couple of 40 and a couple of 60 and then they can be emergency nappies too, as I dont have many for if she turns out to be tiny (expecting her to be big like her brother)!!!

Im not 100% sure on this, BUT I think his nappies are leaknig more with 3 layers of MF and 6 layers of hemp than they were with 6 layers of MF, is it just that the absorbency hasn't built up enough in the hemp yet, I prewashed 3 times?? What do you think!!!

hanna- yes it could be that the absorbancy hasnt built up yet as it can take 10 or even more washes. i would add them in with your 6 mf layers for a few more wears (and washes) and maybe wash at 60 a couple of times (if you usually do 40)

hemp is fab once its been properly worn in...thats why its one of the best things to buy preloved!!! (someone else did all the work for you!!!)

They say that 10 washes is the magic number for hemp, however personally I never really noticed a difference between 3 and more. The other thing, with good weather and all, is he drinking more at the moment than he was before?

I'll try it with the 6 layers of MF tomorrow while I'm out as I don't fancy soaking clothes and pushchair, but I really don't want to have to have that much stuffing, as his nappy wont fit under his clothes, he's quite chunky as it is and we really struggle with trousers!! Hopefully the hemp will get a bit more absorbent, and I normally wash at 60 anyway, was going to stop but will wash at 60 for the baby so no point in stopping now, when she's a bit older I will wash at 40!!

He's not really been having much more to drink, he has about 3-4 cups of juice or water a day and a cup of milk before bed! Hopefully we'll work it out, I love how much slimmer his nappies are with the hemp!!!

Also are some types of hemp inserts better than others, as my BB inserts have 3 layers of hemp but are as thick as the easy peasy inserts which are 6 layers, I have also ordered some bigger weeds (BOGOF) as my easy peasy inserts took forever to dry!!

My blueberry hemp inserts are definately not as absorbant as the easy peasy ones. I actually add a small wee notions hemp booster (which is really slim) into the middle of my BB hemp inserts which helps them last a little longer.
I think it is a lot of trial and error to find what works well for you. My Ellas house hemp inserts are quite good, although I still prefer my easy peasy ones. However the EH ones are heavy even when dry.

I'm just experimenting at the moment, we'd be doing great if it wasn't for the major leakage everytime he's in his pushchair/trolley/highchair! Hopefully we'll find the right combo!!
