Science Kit/ Set for 6yo

I'd love to get James a science kit/ experiments set/microscopy for christmas...

Any ideas on a good quality one that actually works and isn't too "toy" like and more like a mini-real one?

Anyone used any science kits with their children and have any tips ?

I found a really good book at the library recent, it a called 'it's not magic, it's science!' Lots of good experiments using every day objects. Myriad.com/co.uk is also good

My mum has decided to get him the kitchen chemistry set but it also getting some extra 10 test tubes off eBay for 99p for his birthday

Josh had a Electronic circuit one at that age that he loved - it was from the 1970s and was fantastic!

I am currently looking for an electronics kit for myself ( I shall explain at a later point in time), and whilst it looks quite 'toy like' I do like this
