How big are your elves?

I've started to our elf to start doing elf on the shelf this year but now I'm worried that he will be too big, I've kind of had to mix 2 patterns due to the size of yarn and hooks I have available and I think he'll be coming in about 16 inches / 40 cm tall and I'm not sure if this is way too big?

Can those with elfs please help me out! @sim @Louise @laceybat @girlinleeds sorry can't remember who else does it!
