He said he dosen't know how he is weeing as there not a hole to wee through.

he also need to have 3 days of IV antibiotics theres no way he will do that. they did say they would sadaite him if need be but i hope we can preswade him to have the cathter in his hand.

 how difficult for you all.

I d say you have to be honest and say he will need to go in to hospital because of the pain he is in with his willy and you need to wait for a time when the doc is free, could be tomorrow could be when he's back at school and that you don t know.

I think that's all you can do. You could maybe make a little checklist with him of things he d like to take with him so that he can have it ready to use when the time comes.

Again with the antibiotics maybe a little list he can tick off himself ( with you there) when he takes it. Or maybe a dot to dot so he has to take them to see the pic.

I know he takes lots of meds and its hard enough with those :( poor little man

Great advice above. Id also ring and ask to see a play specialist who is trained to prepare children in exactly this kind of situation.

@ems101 I didn't think we could ask for one of those. But will now. We have spoken to him but he want to know exactly what happening. Which I don't want to tell him as I think it will scare him too much

A play therapist will have the medical knowledge and be able to 'translate' it for children. Hope they can get you to see someone soon

I would be honest with him if he asks as it's easier for some children. I would say that the dr is trying to make space for him and will phone as soon as he has room, as it's best to get better as soon as possible.

I'd plump for the honesty thing too. It's always worked for our two and they understand that they have to wait their turn so others in need can be treated.

 @laceybat any news on when it will be? I think trying to explain simply is the best option if you can't get in to see anyone. I hope it isn't as stressful as what you are worried it will be  and that he'll be fine. They are so fantastic in kids wards and I'm sure will help him as much as they can
