Medicating a 5-month old

Postby epsilon1 » Thu Sep 24, 2015 2:46 pm

Any ideas how to get Movicol (prescribed by GP for constipation - 15 days without substantial bowel movement, we had a bit on Saturday, but not 10 days' worth) into a breast-fed 5-month old?

I've got a sachet dissolved in a sippy cup, but she cries and spits it out. It tastes revolting, so I'm not surprised, but also have no clue about bottles, and syringing it in 5ml at a time isn't appealing (sachet takes about 60ml to dissolve) - it's not usually used in children under 2, but GP has said to use it, and it's not as though Lactolose (sold by pharmacist the other day, tried it first) is much nicer, although does have the advantage of being a 5ml dose.

Maybe suppositories would be a more realistic option?
