We might call the children Experiment #1 and Experiment #2 but sometimes it really does seem like they are experimenting on us.
Isaac sat at the table this morning eating breakfast whilst Anthony and I were getting ready upstairs. Isaac starts to call for daddy.
Anthony comments to me "he'll just need to wait a moment"
"Dad" (short, staccato)
"Dad" (slightly louder)
"Daddy" (gentle)
"Dadeeeee" (sweetly)
'Dad, dad, dad, dad" (insistently, v loud)
"Dad" (short staccato again)
"Dadadadadadada" (reminiscent of a younger age)
After this final one, Anthony responds "Yes, Isaac...?"
We go downstairs to find Isaac doing a write up in what looks like a lab book. I catch some of what he's written:
'Subjects easily distracted by 'adult' responsibility such as getting dressed and making beds, even with repeated attempts to regain their attention.
Tried a variety of names, tones and volumes to get Daddy's attention. The baby like insistence of the repeated 'da' sound finally ilicited a response.
Need to repeat experiment.'
*sigh*
