Ooo, first wash

Permanent Linkby frankie_n_baby on Fri Jan 16, 2009 2:55 pm

So, I decided to wash my terries that arrived this morning. After reading the info that came with my little lambs, and searching on here, I put the terries on without detergent at 30 with two lines, since it seems that my washing machine only does the basic programmes, and after reading the manual, I am a little concerned that I won't be able to do the all-important cold prewash. Not sure what to do, but will probably just have to do a 30 -- without detergent. There is no basic 30, just 30 --. Hum. Am in a strange, slightly overfaced by this pregnancy lark-type mood. Does anyone else sometimes feel a little bored, I wonder? I guess it's just not possible to keep up that level of excitement and enthusiasm!

Absolutely - I think it's only going quicker this time because I've got Isabelle to entertain and take my mind off it...
Best to get things like shopping down now though when you've got the energy and enthusiasm for it rather than last min like I did with Isabelle when I was impatient and fedup! :)

Can you post the model and make of your washing machine? I could have a look at the manual for you - if it's got a dial you should be able to move the dial to the rinse cycle and start it from there instead of doing a full wash at 30 and then a wash at 60...

I remember the fun of pre-washing my prefolds, and they were only prefolds!!

Hello, and thanks very much! Our washing machine is a Hoover 1300 special edition PE235. Our manual isn't very helpful...I dunno if you could take a look at the model and make better sense of it? Am used to my mum's old thing from growing up (they've got a better, newer one now, tho- more adjustable than ours).
I think the lack of work and contact has been making me feel a bit restless with it all. I'm impatient to get it all done soon- the nursery in particular. We're not decorating or anything but need to move furniture etc. We've sorted our bedroom out a bit better (well, Robin did earlier), which makes me feel better, but am kind of restless. :babyroll: I need a place to put clothes and nappies, and we're collecting loads of stuff from my sis in 2 weeks.
Yes, nappy washing is so exciting, and like you, I've only done the terries so far. I'm hanging on doing the little lambs; not sure why, but possibly because I want to line dry or am a bit wary of washing them due to their being 2 part and wanting to use the right detergent, although at this stage it shouldn't matter, since they're not covered in poo  I am just wanting to make sure they get rinsed enough, although as we're in a hard water area, getting suds might be more of a problem! Do you think a regular 40 wash with the right amount of detergent would be ok? Hope the washing machine doesn't make life more tricky.
