Enabling Hibernation in Ubuntu 12.04 on a Lenovo T400

In the hope that this helps someone out there do something that took way too much of my time and so that I don't forget:

1) First off make sure your swap partition is bigger than your RAM otherwise you wont have enough space to save the contents of your memory. Use gparted or whatever takes your fancy. Plenty of help on the net for this so I won't go into it.

2) Hibernation was removed from Ubuntu so you need to get it back into you shutdown menu again:
Open:

sudo nano /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla

so 5 months on and we're still in cloth :D
im experimenting with night nappies at the moment, and fleece wraps

so i bought a few bedbugs and a few wnnn old style. i usually use tots bots bamboozes with a mothercare smart nappy trifold insert with a pul wrap which are fantastic btw but i fancied something new lol

first i stuck to the bamboozles and trifold but used a fleece wrap, she was in it from 8...

sleep on it

Well, after having a good rest last night, I feel better about the whole birth thing. As my dh keeps reminding me, in many ways there is no "battle", because we won't be having a hospital birth (unless need to transfer urgently). I am beginning to understand the comments on the AIMS website about women becoming so fed up with it that they even consider having no mw. While I wouldn't have an unassisted birth, I do feel more anxious about who will be attending, and whether I get a nice mw....

A Catch Up

So I thought it was about time I got back on this and gave a bit of an update. We got back off holiday last Friday and life has been almost back to normal. We had a lovely time in Northumberland, the weather was nice and we spent pretty much every day on the beach. Austin loved playing on the beach and paddling in the sea and having all the fresh air and sand and other children around him to play with (which just makes me more sad that we will have to wait so long for baby number 2). OH was allowed...
