Sew-a-long: Simplicity 2444

Postby MissFrodo » Thu Aug 04, 2011 11:09 am

I have cut the fabric for mine and I know some of you want dresses like that.

Join in and make them.

You need the pattern offcourse and the fabrics you want.
There's an invisible zipper in the backpart so you need one of those too and offcourse the normal sewing stuff like thread etc.

Will do pics tonight from my start.
The pattern comes with very clear tutorial so don't worry about it being to difficult for you.
And as we are gonna make the same pattern we can help each other ;)

Pattern ordered - what kind of fabric do I need though, equivalent of 6oz denim? Haven't a clue where to start, wanted something bright and summery rather than heavy. Can I just subsitute with cotton?

Pattern recoomends cotton and cotton blends, gingham, laundered cottons, chambray, damask, pique, seersucker, sateen, crepe, crepe back satin, jacquards, laundered silk-rayons, sandwashed silk, brocade, satin, shantung, taffeta, soft lightweight linen and linen blends.

Mine will be made in woven cotton so yes you'll be fine with cotton ;)

I would join in but I don't have any fabric, I might manage it but would add a tulle petticoat to make it 50's style puffy  just need the pattern and fabrics :giggle:
