Marijke - I'm so sorry I've just been looking at the pattern on the robin makers blog at her mini robins pattern and saw they had a tail - so I went back to look and lo and behold yours should have had a tail too

I'll be making his tail and sending it to you with some thread to attach it with - can't bear the thought of him not having a tail now I know he should have one
