Attempting an evening dress!

Well today I went and spent a stupid amount on fabric to attempt to make myself an evening dress. I am wanting something *loosely* based on the Keira Knightley dress from Atonement. I have bought some very cheap polyester emerald green satin, and some less cheap black orgnaza to use as an overlay.......

I've got a vintage vogue pattern that I'm kind of using as the basis, although it's quite a bit different and as it's a proper vintage pattern the instructions are designed for hand sewing so it's quite a tortuous process!!! Basically I think I'm going to draft the top half myself and use the skirt from the pattern I've got to give me the requisite "swoosh". The tie at the front isn't actually a tie at all but rather a swathe of fabric across the front with a separate piece hanging over from the middle.

I bet it will look amazing !

wow I'm not brave enough to do a pillow case without a pattern That guild training sure comes in handy!! Please keep up updated, will be very interesting to see the progress!
