Gardening costs

Postby ems101 » Mon Jul 04, 2011 4:44 pm

Weve just had a quote to replace 80 ft of fencing, without materials =£800. Sounds WAY over priced to me, but what do i know?! Anyone had similar quote? Brakedown was 2 days worth of work for 2 men.

£200 a day per person for manual work sounds a lot to me

Get some other quotes. £100 a day is more like it, and a lot of gardeners round here have young lads working for them on apprenticeships or minimum wage so they can get two men on it for a day for £150 or so x

There is a website called Rated,

You can post your job & 3 tradespeople will contact you to quote, I've used it a few times recently, it's great & saves the hassle of phoning around trying to get quotes, plus you can check the reviews etc for the one you like best before giving them the job.

It cost us £120 for 50ft including materials and it's excellent quality wood. (2 men, less than 1 day)
