Colour Catchers

Postby tiyuricc » Thu Jan 20, 2011 12:50 pm

 Not sure if this should be here or DIY....

Anyone used those reusable colour catcher sheets? Can be used up to 30 times, which in this household isn't very many days  They look just like some cotton towelling, but not sure if that's what they are.

What I'm wondering is if I can buy a sacrificial piece of material to use as I resent paying £3 or whatever it is for a little piece of material in a cardboard box that i'm going to have to throw out in a few days time.

Has anyone tried to make their own?

i use the normal shop bought ones but i use them at least 3 times each. First with light, then bright then darks. I buy a few boxes when they are on special. Microfiber cloths kind of work too if youve ever had a dye run in the nappy wash the mf picks it all up.

this is one i've had before. http://www.dr-beckmann.co.uk/products/c ... tor-cloth/

i had it in a normal nappy wash, and couldn't believe the colour it came out... and there were some mf bits in there, which came out a normal colour.

They sound interesting, must have some chemical in them perhaps?

Hmmmm so 2.99 + 1.20 postage for 30 washes which would be about 3-4 weeks here. Not toooo bad if they really work :giggle:
