While hunting for wallpaper - Curtain fabric help please!

Postby ladybird » Sat Feb 05, 2011 7:44 am

We're also decorating our bedroom. We've got the whole room stripped back to plaster and will be painting the walls cream and the chimney breast hot pink. We have 'antique' stained furniture. The room is south facing and has two tall, but narrow windows with a street light right outside that needs blocking out well at night. I've picked out some fairly heavy pink cotton velvet fabric that I will have blinds made with. I've still got to find/choose;

The cream for the walls - I'll be buying tester pots today, but any suggestions are welcome (I have access to Wickes, B&Q and Wilkinsons).
Woodwork colour - they're currently painted white and stripping and staining isn't an option.
Carpet colour
Curtain fabric
A curtain pole
A lampshade for the ceiling light

The wall paint is of paramount importance really :lol: I need that NOW as we'll be painting next weekend. The carpet can wait. I would really like help finding a cream fabric with a hot pink accent that I can have made into curtains - more as decor than for function as I'm hoping the blinds will deal with the outside light. I'm thinking a fairly small print, dh is fine with florals. I've seen a gorgeous Marimekko, but I don't think he'll go for £32/metre if I can find it in this country anyway.

I love this stripe:

It's Laura Ashley, it will work nicely as dress curtains because it's a stripe.

It is probably leaning towards the yellow side. It is very rich, it really looks like white chocolate.

Funky retro, no tea roses please. Floral is fine though. Next have a couple of nice curtains, but the print is a bit big for me.
So far this is my fav http://www.kiitosmarimekko.com/lu130pi.html except for the price!!

I've just picked up 6 paint sample pots to try out, will do those later.
