Maybe lol. I'm confident in my ability to do so. It's more the time when I'd have work to do. I'd be concerned when they got to secondary though, like maths and sciences. In some ways it would be better as they could specialise early in what they were interested in and not be bound my regiment of school. It depends what they would want to end up doing at tertiary level. High School wasn't that much of a benefit to me except for a good history teacher at standard grade and a good art, design and craft department. I wouldn't be able to offer the facilities and subject specialism that a high school could though so that's what puts me off.

A yes from me. I'd really love to do it with Bella (and Sproglet once he's here), but I still have to convince DH of the merits and we also face a lot of opposition from family, particularly the in-laws. We'll see how things develop.

Thanks ladies this is great stuff!! :wine: Keep it coming!

I definitely think homeschooling can be a good thing when done properly. Me & dh have discussed it a lot & he'd love us to do it. i just think I'm not creative enough & I wouldn't want to let them down  Having said that... If we send them to the wrong school they'll be let down too!! If they were struggling at school or really unhappy there I'd give it a good go!

Its not that I dont understand Home Schooling or its merits Shadow, its a personal decision that I choose to have my children educated through primary and secondary school. Each to their own - as in everything.

Dh is doing a program on homeschooling this week. He's asked me to do a simple poll about it (is that allowed?)...

Just simple really! What do you think about homeschooling... YES OR NO?

Thanks!

Homeschooling is an American term, in the UK it's referred to as home education.

That aside, I'm not sure exactly what your questions is. Are you asking people if they agree with the principal of HE, whether they think it should be a legal option, whether they would consider HE, whether they are planning to HE, whether they currently or have in the past HE'd?

I agree with ladybird that most people have absolutely no idea what HE is like or how it works.

We do HE. Thankfully we also live in Scotland where the government is very supportive of HE families.

My comment wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, just what I said, that many people (including myself, right up to when we got started almost) aren't fully aware of it all.
