I can't resist an opportunity to talk about my "mini farm" so here are some pics:

How easy are ducks to keep? I love duck eggs!

They are quite easy as they amuse themselves. They need a fox-proof house that they can go in at night and most backyard ducks only need a small amount of water. We use half of a child's plastic paddling pool as it is very easy to clean. Ours are Indian Runners so basically can't fly which helps keep them in the garden! The downside is that ducks are VERY messy! They have basically dug up our lawn through dabbling and pulled up our vegetables/flowers if they weren't out of reach. It doesn't help that we live in the wettest town in Britain and it has rained most of the year! On the plus side, they are hilarious to watch and lay beautiful eggs. Indian Runners are supposed to lay all year round but ours stopped in August. Having said that, they are quite young (all under a year) and most of my friends with ducks have had the same problem regardless of breed.
