Making Cloth Nappies help

With no funds for buying anymore nappies (although, might need to try and persuade the OH that we do need a couple night nappies) and really getting sick of velcro I think I might need to make some. I want to make some poppered fitteds and they don't need to be fleece lined as I have big fleece liners. Hopefully I'll have enough cotton flannel lying around that I can use that on the inside and out but does it have to be stretchy? What would you put in the middle and do you know anywhere I can get it relatively cheap? I have some old prefolds I could use but they are really bulky. And I've never done poppers before, how do you get them on?

Lastly, any good (preferably free) patterns out there?

I use the darling diapers pattern. It is fantastic and gives you options to make fitteds, pockets and wrap. Also options for nippa, velcro and popper fastenings. It walks you through the steps with pictures and is super simple.
It's quite pricy but even I managed to make some pretty decent nappies and I am crap at sewing.

I used to draw around a favourite shaped fitted on grease proof paper and make my own pattern. Towelling is cheap, cutting up a prefold and re shaping would also be good. I bought my kam press from ebay.

I like very baby pattern but the best pattern ever is called made by jacks mum on etsy.

You can use anything you like but really it's a lot of time and effort and it's worth investing in some decent materials. I recommend minky or bamboo or cotton knit outer. Bamboo or Terry core and velour or microfleece inner.

You will need snaps and snap pliers

I love love love making nappies but it's not free as such.

Any more questions I'd be happy to help x
