Is my toddler addicted to his stacking cups?

Postby munkykisser » Sun Dec 22, 2013 7:09 am

Not too concerned but when his cups are out he rarely plays with anything else. He'll do all sorts of things with them. Stack on top, inside and spin them (better than I can). I've started hiding them in the week and he doesn't seem to notice and will play with other toys happily. I thought he'd grow out of them by now.

Can any harm come from him playing with the cups so much?

Not much of an issue but I thought i'd ask. I searched google and it comes up with addictions to iPads and a smoking 2 year old in Thailand. Yikes!

:D

Merry Christmas!
Xx

My oldest would only play with one particular toy and he now 4 and fine . He still learning e energy if it only one thing he's playing with. I would do what your doing and not put them out all the time.

He's 21 months. He's had the cups since he was 9 months. He's good fun. I am worrying over nothing.

Sounds completely normal to me.
James has always had a favourite toy and will play with it constantly for months and months - but move onto something else if said favourite toy isn't around!

We try to encourage new games with the same favourite toy.
Perhaps you could encourage his counting whilst stacking them or naming the colors etc.
or trying to balance them upside down to encourage his fine motor skills?

Thank you for your replies. With Christmas two sleeps away i'm sure his cups will take a natural temporary back seat (I can't assume he'll just forget about them). He's grown out of many of his toys but the cups have been a fav for a long time.
