Okay so I'm oficially confused...

Calprofen is 100mg ibuprofen per 5mls and their dosages are:

Baby Nurofen
is 100mg ibuprofen per 5mls and their dosages are:

Age of Child How Much How often in 24 hours
3-6 months (weighing more than 5kg) 2.5ml 3 times
6-12 months 2.5ml 3-4 times
1-3 years 5ml 3 times
4-6 years 7.5ml 3 times
7-9 years 10ml 3 times
10-12 years 15ml 3 times

So which is right?!?!?!?!?!

They look similiar to me - but am tired so might be missing something.

I would just follow the instructions or each individual product or is there a health line or pharmasist that you could call just to make sure?

They are largely similar but for the 1-2years bit where the calpol ppl say give 2.5mls and nurofen ppl say give 5mls!

but with the Capol you can give it 3-4 times a day and the BN only 3 so maybe thats where they account for it - if that makes sense

So Calprofen total in 24hrs would be 10mls where as Nurofen would be 15mls?

I see what you mean but how can both be right?

We don't use Ibuprofen anymore so I can't remember what we gave.

I know when Charlotte was in hospital they always gave 2.5mls of ibuprofen and 5mls of paracetamol (they alternated so that you can give doses closer together). We have kept one of the syringes they use and it is great for forcing them to take it when they are particularly distressed!

We have been using Medised recently (I think it is magic!) but on Shevi's recommendation bought some Calpol nights and you know what? We haven't had to give her any medicine since I bought it so haven't been able to find out if it works!

I used to use the nurofen and gave lucas 5ml doses at a time! (he did only get it once a day though!)

We have tried medised (it makes Lauren sick!) but calpol night seems to be working well fr the girls at the moment.
