Recommend some bedtime story books

Postby Mareth » Fri Oct 30, 2009 11:27 pm

The time has come to start reading Rhys a bedtime story (and soon to move him into a bed   ), but I don't know what to buy.

I'm going to grab a few from Amazon, and since they're now doing free delivery when you spend over £25, I might as well spend that :giggle: , since I'd be charged a large portion of that on postage if I spent under it  . £25 is loaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaads of amazon books :wine:

Any recommendations?

hi hun, isobella is a library menmber and has been since birth  so she gets different books every bweek FREE then if there are certain ones she really likes we will look on amazon, her/my faves are the gruffalo, just like my dad, anything with animals. oh oh and i read her this poem ...........

Time for bed sleepyhead, bath times over stories read
Ten tired fingers, ten tierd toes, two tired eyelids and one tired nose
Jim jams on fresh and clean, sweetest baby ever seen
Ten tired fingers, ten tierd toes, two tired eyelids and one tired nose
Cosy cover under your chin, good night baby all tucked in

sorry that was no help :giggle:

Matthew and I really love 'The bungle jungle bedtime kiss' at the minute - can't remember the author though. Will have a check tomorrow, there are loads of others but I just can't think right now.

Gruffalo, The Gruffalos Child, Room on the Broom, Dear Zoo, Each Peach Pear Plum, The Very Hungry Caterpillar - all some of Evies favourites, although she also loves a few random ones I picked up in Bargain Books for £1 each :)

He already has:
Tiddler
Monkey Puzzle
VHC
Each Peach Pear Plum
and some Irish stories/mythology
Calm Down, Boris
GHMILY
Seán agus an Gas Pónaire (Jack and the Beanstalk in Irish)

So far on my 'to buy' list is:

The Gruffalo
The Gruffalo's Child
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly (although that's not really for bedtime :giggle: )

Also, there's a book called Time for Bed Little Tiger, which looks like it might be good. Has anyone read it?

Room on The Broom is FAB, Kieran and Anna still love it, Gruffalo as well here, we don't read much to Gracie as she just grabs the book and throws it away, we do try though
I was singing "There was an old lady who swalloed a Fly" yesterday that and "Went to the animal fair, the birds and the beasts where there................." :giggle:
