Poo question, TMI sorry!

Dans had the runs for 2 days now and he's passed a lot of mucus in the last 3 nappies. He's in sposies till this clears up.
I know a certain amout of mucus is normal with the runs, especially since he's just had a chest infection, but how much mucus is too much and when to see the doc? The last nappy had a huge amount, a good saucer sized blob, tmi, sorry, and it smells really vile. i know poo smells anyway but this is something else!

If it's is worrying you I would phone NHS direct or book a GP appointment.

Toby was in hospital with bronchiolitis when he was 6 weeks old and had mucus poops then quite badly. I saved a nappy to show the consultant (which he looked a little stunned at) but didn't think was an issue, but it wasn't a huge amount.

I'd give it a few days and see.if he's well otherwise it may well clear up if he's got the runs.if he's been on antibiotics that can muck up poo for a short while too while the gut gets back to normal as antibiotics kill off good bacteria too.

Quinn had really yucky poos last week as a result of antiboitics . I bought some baby probiotic sachets from Boots to add to his milk. It's meant to re-balance the good bacteria in the gut that is lost when they have squitty poos. It was quite expensive at £9.99 (I stocked up by getting 3 for 2!!) but worked a treat.

Forgot to say... it's suitable from 6 months.

I'd see how he goes and if it continues then I'd maybe see about it
