Milk - which cup for toddler?

Postby clarge » Sat Feb 27, 2010 9:38 am

Hi ladies.... My DS who is now 21 months, give or take, has been on prescription formula since birth due to a milk intollerance, and consequently using a bottle. Well, FINALLY, I have him on goats milk and all is going well. Anyways, so now I want to get him off the bottle as they soooo need to be in the bin.

What cup does your LO drink milk out of? He only has it morning and night.... He drinks his water/juice from this http://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/e ... orty_18m_/ at the moment as he is very much a drink and chuck kinda boy LOL! He drinks tea from his bog standard 4+ month tommee tippee sippy.... Tried the milk in this and he drank about 3oz, normally 8, as I think it just comes out too darn slow. Plus its too small.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Need something with a decent flow, and preferrably not easy to spill, non spill not essential. Handles would be preferrably as he would normally be reclining on me or DH in quite a relaxed state to drink so just easier to hold....

Also - not keen on using his water cup for milk as last time i put something else in it other than his normal drink he refused to drink anything from it for ages and i had to buy something different. He is very fickle! :-)

Thanks in advance! :-)

We have always used tommy tippee nuby cups - they go through various stages from 4 months right through to 18 months, starting with a teat like sippy bit and eventually ending up at a sports bottle kind of cup.

Isabelle still uses the Avent Magic Sportster cups when we're not sat down for a meal (otherwise it gets spilt esp with Grace around to grab at it!) and they hold a decent quantity of milk too (12oz)...

We've taken the flip lid off (it clips on) as she plays with it too much but otherwise a fab cup...

Alternatively the amadeus cups are brilliant:

I like those but they're difficult to clean the spout so I don't use them with milk as you can't clean the spout properly

I had replied to your other thread on the same subject but everyone is posting here so....

DD has been drinking water from these
http://www.babiesgalore.com.au/feeding/ ... f_cups_4pk
since 6 months and will occasionally have milk in it. They are very cheap, durable and also come in disney designs, straw versions and larger cups.
Also easy to drink from but don't spill too easy.

And are easy to clean too.

Thanks ladies.... the TT basic cup is too slow for dylan and goes mad. And he has never liked drinking from solid wide spouts like the amadeus ones, so a no go....

Been to boots and bought this http://www.nuby.com/en/nuby/cups-spouts/1214 one. Fingers crossed. Gonna try it tonight. I did contemplate the avent magic sportster one too.... if this doesnt work, that will be my next try out! :-)
