Splinters

Postby twinkletot » Sat May 15, 2010 8:13 pm

Ds has a splinter (found today) and I can't get it out. Tried teasing it after a warm bath but it seems to not want to budge. Do I just leave it to remove itself (that's what I would do on myself) or are there any really good ways of removing them?

run the edge of a credit card along the area that the splinter is in to push it back out.

No problem  That's what I was taught on a first aid course, not sure how well it works because I have never had to use it

You're supposed to leave them in now, I think cover it and leave it, this is what my friend who did first aid more recently than me said you're meant to do, it works it's own way out, how tempting to pull it out though :-?

I usually put a wet plaster over it (just wet the padded bit iyswim) and it works it's way out :D

I had one in my finger a while back and tried to leave it but for 6 months I had a lump on my finger and was really painful  turned out leaving it in had pushed it in further and I had to have it removed
