sleep, who needs it...........

well ive been up for the last half hour with missy, the sleep assasin ,who is currently watching telly.

why oh why oh why will she not sleep through- its getting rediculous.
bed at 7-7.30 storys,cuddles & left happy ,then the screaming, crying & banging door against wall starts -for up to an hour and a half after that,many trips upstairs to return to bed,quite often she smiles when i go in
then wake at 12 ish, 1,50 & 4-430 ish
shes also dropped her nap daytime which is not good!

got the h.v doing her 2 yr check next fri, so am doing a sleep diary so she can see how bad its getting again.
but its been going on for months & i suspect in the last 2 years we have probably only had 30 unbroken nights max.
anyone got good ideas?

I don't have how ideas right now, but I'm sure people will be along to help. I hope the sleep diary can help identify any issues and help you find solutions.

I feel your pain . Isaac has slept through 5 times and it's starting to take it's toll on me! I have no advice I'm afraid, hopefully the HV will have some useful suggestions for you. I'm hoping he'll grow out of it soon.... wishful thinking perhaps?!

Ryan's still up pretty much every night and this morning was ready for the day at 4:15am. Ouch

I feel your pain, Conan has slept through the night maybe 5 times since birth too, last night he woke up at half past midnight and was shouting "up" on and off until 3am.Hope you get some peace tonight

Have you tried putting her to bed earlier? If she's up that early & dropped her nap, she's likely to be massively over-tired which often results in them not being able to settle, bad nights & early rises. Could you perhaps bring her bed time slowly backward?

DS was nearly two before he slept through, so I really empathise. Sleep deprivation is a killer.
I wouldn't (couldn't!) do controlled crying, so the only way to get him settled was to be in the room with him... then he would always wake up at least once and we'd have to go through the whole palaver again.
Then all of a sudden it stopped. He'll ask me to stay, but I just tell him that I have got things to do (dishes, folding washing) and that I will see him later when I'm finished. So he patiently waits for me to finish... and falls asleep in the process. AND mostly doesn't wake up again until the morning (or his early version of morning ).
So no advice, since I didn't really DO anything.
Hope you get to the route of the problem soon... or it just miraculously settles.

thansk for replying & its nice to know im not the only one suffering ( not that i wish it on anyone else!)
just managed to get a single bed off our local ebay type thingy-hoping going into a proper single will help, and i hadnt thought about bringing her bedtime forward, deff something to try as i forgot tom used to go hyper when overtired and i guess it might be having an effect on herself ( crosses fingers hopefully)
will wait n see what the hv says aswell ,she has a friend who is a sleep specialist........could be helpfull
