constipation

Postby Rae » Sun Jun 08, 2008 3:14 pm

Kayleigh has been constipated for 3 days now. I am assuming it has been brought about due to the cold. Today she was saying 'farty' and crying. So I took her nappy off, and it didn't look comfortable. We have been giving her more fruit, and offering her more to drink, but she really isn't interested in food and drink. Any natural/alternative ideas, or should I go to the chemist and get something?

prunes? fresh orange juice? are the 2 things that spring to mind!

However! when Lucas was constipated I gave him a tiny bit of Lactulose, it's a liquid that helps regularity (not a laxitive) and within a couple of hours he had 'done' what he needed to do! (so far quicker than prunes/orange juice)

Hope the little miss isn't in too much discomfort and that things move soon for her

Yeah lactulose is pretty good and suitable to give young children

We had real problems with Hannah not going to the toilet and then of course the constipation that would follow.

Movicol-half worked great, I'd recommend it if the other suggestions dont (and of course if its available over there )

Thanks for the suggestions. We will get something, and hope that the movements come easier.

I find that prunes, dried apricots or raisins ususally works a treat

That's what I'd do too
